Often this occurs with models made in CAM, where the Y and Z axes are reversed from the typical CAD Y and Z definitions, but can also be for other reasons.<\/p>\n<p>Regardless, there\u2019s a pretty easy way to fix this problem once the model is imported into SOLIDWORKS, and that is <strong>Move\/Copy body<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In the example provided next, the part is not oriented the way we\u2019d like it to be in SOLIDWORKS. <strong>To fix this, go to Insert, Features, Move\/Copy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-23173 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/4\/First-Image-Best-600-px.png\" alt=\"Imported part in black and white - SOLIDWORKS view\" width=\"600\" height=\"322\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/4\/First-Image-Best-600-px.png 600w, https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/4\/First-Image-Best-600-px-300x161.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In the PropertyManager, <strong>make sure you are in Translate\/Rotate mode and not Constraints mode.<\/strong> (See button at the bottom of the PropertyManager). Type in the angle of rotation desired in the proper box to rotate the body about the X, Y, or Z axis.
