Intelligent Communication

Communicating design information is a key part of any workflow, and the SOLIDWORKS suite of products has three specialized tools to enable Intelligent Communication: SOLIDWORKS Composer for technical illustrations. SOLIDWORKS MBD for product manufacturing information, and SOLIDWORKS Visualize for photo quality renderings. Let’s check out some of the key enhancements to each of these products in SOLIDWORKS 2020.

SOLIDWORKS Composer 2020 can now leverage even more information from the SOLIDWORKS model than ever before! User Defined Named Views and Exploded Views created in SOLIDWORKS are now passed into SOLIDWORKS Composer, as well as SOLIDWORKS Appearances and Textures applied to your models. These enhancements to SOLIDWORKS Composer provide tighter collaboration between engineering and Technical Publications team, resulting in less rework and shorter lead-time for technical illustration deliverables.

For a drawingless manufacturing workflow, SOLIDWORKS MBD is used to communicate 3D PMI (3D Product Manufacturing Information) to manufacturing. SOLIDWORKS MBD 2020 provides a number of enhancements that expand on current capabilities that make it even easier to use. New Sorting and Display Options improve usability, especially on complex models. DimXpert dimensions show more descriptive names and can now be organized into folders as well as sorted by type, making them easier to identify on a complex model. SOLIDWORKS MBD 2020 also brings support for Compound Hole Callouts, which is a huge benefit for machine design.

When you need photo quality images, videos, or even an AR-VR environment, SOLIDWORKS Visualize provides amazing results with your SOLIDWORKS geometry. New in SOLIDWORKS Visualize 2020 is the support for IES profiles for lighting! The AEC industry relies heavily IES profiles to mimic realistic, vendor specific, lighting equipment. This new capability opens doors to anyone who designs or incorporates light fixtures into their SOLIDWORKS designs.

Intelligent Communication means getting the right deliverables to the right stakeholders at the right time. SOLIDWORKS covers all the bases from Technical Communication, 3D PMI and Photo Quality CAD Output with three distinct solutions: SOLIDWORKS Composer, SOLIDWORKS MBD and SOLIDWORKS Visualize.
