SOLIDWORKS 2015 Sneak Peek: Selection Sets

launch intro_9.9

Each year SOLIDWORKS releases a new version of its flagship product. Over the course of 15 days we will be taking a deeper dive and posting videos for 15 new tools coming in this feature-packed release. To learn more about SOLIDWORKS 2015, you can click on the banner above to check out many of the new features and learn where you can go and see a live demonstration of all the new features.

Selection Sets enable the capture of important information, reducing repetitive selection operations during modelling, assembly, or simulation setup.  Selection Sets are saved in the SOLIDWORKS file and are accessed from the FeatureManager. They can include geometry, components, or drawing items.

For commonly selected features, Selection Sets save a lot of time. By adding Selection Sets of faces or edges to standard parts and renaming them logically, mating components together becomes a whole lot easier.  Simulation often requires the selection of multiple faces, especially in Flow Simulation. Selection Sets make this process easier by allowing pre-selection of faces required to setup your simulation.

If you want to see more of the 15 Features coming in SOLIDWORKS 2015 blog series, you can check in on the announcement post from August 22, 2014 where we will be updating and adding links to each of these posts as they go live.
