Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) skills.\u00a0 To prepare for future jobs, our schools need more students to select STEM fields.\u00a0 Through the SolidWorks User Group Network (<a href=\"https:\/\/swugn.org\/\">SWUGN<\/a>), <strong>Richard Doyle<\/strong>, our user group guy,\u00a0 connected Betty Baker, Product Engineer, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ashleyfurniture.com\/\">Ashley Furniture<\/a>, Arcadia, Wisconsin and James Adkins, Department Head, Computer Aided Drafting Technology,\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alamancecc.edu\/\">Alamance Community Colleg<\/a>e, Graham, North Carolina to promote STEM learning and STEM careers.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9438\" own community college students to attend these STEM events.\u00a0Betty gathered a team of Ashley Furniture engineers from Wisconsin to travel to North Carolina, located near the Ashley Furniture 1135w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 615px) 100vw, 615px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With the help of the\u00a0<strong>Wanek Education Foundation<\/strong>, Ashley Furniture sent a technical team from design, engineering, manufacturing and operations, supporting women in STEM fields.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9440\" STEM presentations at 5 different schools, touching 929 students.<\/p>\n<p>Betty stated in a recent interview &#8220;This was so amazing!!!!\u00a0 Without Richard&#8217;s help and being able to get to know James through the SolidWorks User Group Network, I would never have had this opportunity.\u00a0 I keep saying that the SolidWorks community is like a family me to me and this experience just reaffirms that for me.\u00a0 SolidWorks really is more than just a software, it really is a community and a family.\u00a0 I could not be more proud right now that I am a part of this community.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Both James and Betty continue to amaze me with their dedication to our community and to students.\u00a0 James is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solidworks.com\/sw\/education\/certification-programs-cad-students.htm\">SOLIDWORKS Academic Provider<\/a>, giving the Certified SOLIDWORKS Associate Exam (CSWA) to his students at Alamance CC.<\/p>\n<p>Betty and Ashley Furniture employees continue their STEM outreach throughout the year with summer camp programs and engineering &amp; design scholarships with the Wanek Education Foundation.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9439\" src=\"https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/TC-Robotics-Copy-615x461.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"615\" height=\"461\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Betty is a mentor to a new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.firstinspires.org\/\">FIRST<\/a> Robotics Competition (FRC) team, <strong>Team 7021 TC Robotics<\/strong>, made up of 5 different schools and home-schooled students in their community.\u00a0 Team 7021 is part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.7rrc.org\/teams\">7 River Coalition <\/a> and will be competing in 2 FRC Regional events in Dulute, MN and La Crosse, MN.<\/p>\n<p>Betty is the LA Crosse, Eau Claire, Winona Area (LEWA) SWUGN User Group Leader.\u00a0 You can learn more about Betty&#8217;s STEM outreach at the SWUGN meeting at<a
