The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni-stuttgart.de\/en\/\">University of Stuttgart<\/a>\u00a0chose\u00a0SOLIDWORKS Research Edition to design various parts and assemblies for the project because most of the industry partners used the software, and also, for students it is a very <em>easy-to-use<\/em> and a <em>powerful<\/em> tool.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;SOLIDWORKS is used to modify the parts, to research the parts&#8221;, explains Yannick, &#8220;the simulation toolbox to simulate assemblies and also to do stress analysis&#8221;. He continues, &#8220;It was quite a challenging task but with programs like SOLIDWORKS, it is easy to design those kind of assemblies&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.solidworks.com\/teacher\/capture-2\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-8776 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/Capture-1.jpg\" width=\"795\" height=\"391\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/Capture-1.jpg 795w, https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/Capture-1-300x148.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/Capture-1-768x378.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/Capture-1-615x302.jpg 615w, https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/Capture-1-728x358.jpg 728w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 795px) 100vw, 795px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>One of the major design issues they face with the project are the differences in temperatures which, Jan explains, was made easy using SOLIDWORKS because the parts could be designed and the immediately simulated, It eliminated the need to use multiple software or to convert files to various formats. &#8220;Can just do it all in one software&#8221;, says Jan who is currently doing an internship for SOFIA project in California.<\/p>\n<p>He adds, &#8220;we are able to validate our designs with SOLIDWORKS with simulating the parts and doing the thermal simulations and motion simulations&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.solidworks.com\/teacher\/2017\/03\/sofia-project-university-stuttgart-germany.html\/sofia_open_door_flight_email\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-8777\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-8777 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/SOFIA_Open_Door_Flight_email.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>These talented scientists enjoy their work on the project. &#8220;There have been a lot of breakthroughs already&#8221;.
