Makers\u00a0from over 60 countries come to Shenzhen Fab12 this week to celebrate Fab Labs and explore the future of Fabrication at the 12th Fab Lab Conference and Symposium.\u00a0\u00a0\"Shenzhen\u00a0\u00a0The city of Shenzhen is quite the host in a city filled with Incubators and Makers, there is no shortage of design, \u00a0fabrication and creation.<\/p>\n

“Fab Lab, short for Fabrication Laboratory is a digital design and fabrication prototyping platform that enables anyone, anywhere to make almost anything they can imagine.”<\/p>\n

Fab Lab was started by Neil Gershenfeld, Director of Center for Bits and Atoms, MIT. \u00a0Today there are over 1000 Fab Labs around the world.<\/p>\n

Director Sherry Lassiter explains Fab Labs as .org, .com, and .edu, community, entrepreneurship and education, all coming together in one creative space.<\/p>\n

\"Open<\/p>\n

SOLIDWORKS\u00a0is connected\u00a0with Fab Labs on multiple levels. \u00a0Today, I am fortunate to present on Fab Lab Rwanda, the first Fab Lab in central Africa, that opened in May with the help of SOLIDWORKS, JICA, Rwanda Development Board and the Ministry of Education.<\/p>\n

SOLIDWORKS also supports Fab Labs around the world to promote new business by providing SOLIDWORKS software through our value added resellers.<\/p>\n

SOLIDWORKS R&D\u00a0is\u00a0working with Neil and MIT’s\u00a0Center for Bits and Atoms to develop a new SOLIDWORKS Add In to MODS, the ability to directly interface with fabrication equipment inside the Fab Lab.<\/p>\n

Happy to see Thomas Kim from Sindoh here, the 3DWox is making its debut at Fab12.<\/p>\n
