The three co-founders, who are mechanical engineering students from South Jersey, launched their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kickstarter.com\/projects\/thinklikeagirl\/think-like-a-girl-engineering-kits\/\">Kickstarter<\/a> last week.<\/p>\n<p>Think Like a Girl CEO and Co-Founder, <strong>Gabrielle Rochino<\/strong>, never knew any female engineers until she began college. \u201cNow that I know some amazing female engineers, I look up to them as real role models,\u201d Gabrielle says. \u00a0According to the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.asme.org\/\">ASME<\/a>, only 14% of engineers in the United States are female. This percentage is not expected to increase dramatically in the next decade.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-8155\" src=\"https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/Think-Like-A-Girl-3-615x410.jpg\" alt=\"Think Like A Girl 3\" width=\"615\" height=\"410\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/Think-Like-A-Girl-3-615x410.jpg 615w, https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/Think-Like-A-Girl-3-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/Think-Like-A-Girl-3-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/Think-Like-A-Girl-3-728x485.jpg 728w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 615px) 100vw, 615px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Gabrielle originally came up with the Think Like a Girl for her Entrepreneurship &amp; Innovation class, a required course in her mechanical engineering program at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rowan.edu\/home\/\">Rowan University<\/a>. Although she never once thought that being a female limited her abilities, she still felt self-doubt as she pursued her major. The team has extensively researched why girls lose interest in STEM, the how girls typically learn best, and they have performed numerous focus groups and outreach events.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kickstarter.com\/projects\/thinklikeagirl\/think-like-a-girl-engineering-kits\/widget\/video.html\" width=\"480\" height=\"270\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"> <\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The team is aiming to raise $40,000 through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kickstarter.com\/projects\/thinklikeagirl\/think-like-a-girl-engineering-kits\/\">Kickstarter<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>What sets Think Like a Girl apart is their focus on the main reasons why girls do not go into engineering and then the incorporation of proven methods in which girls learn best. She combined these learned skills with her passion for art and began majoring in mechanical engineering. Gabrielle has interned at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solidworks.com\/\">Dassault Syst\u00e8mes SOLIDWORKS<\/a> in Technical Support, Education, and User Experience. She currently has her CSWP and CSWA <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solidworks.com\/sw\/support\/solidworks-certification.htm\">certifications<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Want to learn more?
