Since 1865, WPI has\u00a0pioneered innovation in engineering education, research, and community. \u00a0In our latest SOLIDWORKS case study with WPI<\/a>, we interviewed Michael Gennert,<\/strong> Robotics Engineering Program Director at WPI. \u00a0WPI was the first college in the USA to offer an undergraduate degree in Robotics Engineering. \u00a0\u00a0Students\u00a0can not only model \u00a0designs in 3D but also take advantage of integrated motion, analysis, and visualization tools. \u00a0Researchers at WPI use SOLIDWORKS as their innovation platform.<\/p>\n

\"WPI<\/p>\n

When the case study was written, TJ Watson<\/strong> was a\u00a0student at WPI. \u00a0I caught up with TJ at SOLIDWORKS WORLD. \u00a0He is now an engineer with UBER.<\/p>\n

\"AndyMark<\/p>\n

Two years ago, intern, Gabrielle\u00a0Fanzini<\/strong> used SOLIDWORKS software to create more than 300 models of mechanical and electrical components and assemblies included in the kits that high school students use in conjunction with the FIRST Robotics Competition. \u00a0These models are part of the www.solidworks.com\/FIRST <\/a>library in the Kit of Parts. \u00a0Gabrielle will attend graduate school in the Fall.<\/p>\n

\"WPI<\/p>\n

In addition to education and research, WPI is all about community and projects. \u00a0I first met Paul Ventimiglia<\/a> as a student in the basement of WPI’s Higgins Lab practicing moving\u00a0dirt for the NASA Robotics Competition which he would go on to win. \u00a0 Paul now is a major contender in Battlebots, a talented\u00a0designer, and dedicated mentor.<\/p>\n

\"Robot<\/p>\n

WPI professor, researcher and entrepreneur,\u00a0Eduardo Torres-Jara<\/strong>, developed this Robot Rebuild pod cast with SOLIDWORKS<\/a>\u00a0and talks about his company, providing advice to new start-ups.<\/p>\n

\"Ruxandra<\/p>\n

Visiting at WPI, students continue to impress me as I see year over year what they have accomplished. Aerospace engineering student, Ruxandra Duca<\/strong> created the SOLIDWORKS\u00a0drone video series<\/a> and robotics video series<\/a>. \u00a0Ruxi\u00a0will be working on her PhD in aerospace engineering.<\/p>\n

\"WPI<\/p>\n

Senior Mechanical Engineering students work tirelessly now on projects. \u00a0In a few weeks, industry judges will be interviewing students, as they describe in theory and practice,\u00a0applications of their products.<\/p>\n

\"WPI<\/p>\n

A trip to WPI would not be complete without wishing the competitive teams the best\u00a0in Formula SAE, Aero, Robotic and design competitions.<\/p>\n
