href=\"https:\/\/www.polytechnic.bh\/\">Bahrain Polytechnic<\/a> was established in 2008 to fill the gap in Bahrain\u2019s labor market for applied and technical skilled professionals.\u00a0 Today with over 2000 students, Bahrain Polytechnic graduates \u201chome-grown\u201d ready-to-work professionals, to meet requirements from local industry, such as petroleum and aluminum export.<\/p>\n<p>To support its growing economy with the right skills, students focus on an applied Problem Based Learning (PLB) curriculum approach where they work with local industry and their advisor to complete full-time design projects using SOLIDWORKS and SOLIDWORKS Simulation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr. Philippe Pringuet<\/strong>, Engineering Dean, shared with us two examples of students\u2019 work during a AlMohsen\u2019s<\/strong> project, \u201cDesigning a Suction Device to Extract Alumina\u201d developed a device to extract Aluminum from a specialized vehicle for the company <a href=\"https:\/\/www.albasmelter.com\/Pages\/default.aspx\">Aluminum Bahrain\u00a0 \u2013 ALBA<\/a>, the largest exporter of Aluminum in the Middle East.<\/p>\n<p>Working with her industry supervisor, <strong>Ahmed Almulla<\/strong> (ALBA) and Bahrain Polytechnic supervisor, <strong>Pradeep Nathoo<\/strong>, \u00a0AlMohsen first investigated the impact of her design on Bahrain society and then began the brain storming process.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-7431\" total airflow, static pressure, material handling, cyclone dimensions and other physical characteristics were taken into design alternatives.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" focused on an alternative design where materials goes directly through the fan.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mohamed Kadhim Al-Wadi\u2019s<\/strong> project, \u201cDesign of Shallow Water Skimmer\u201d, worked with industry supervisor, \u00a0<strong>Mohamed<\/strong> <strong>Darwish <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oilspillresponse.com\/\">Oil Spill Response Limited (OSRL)<\/a> and Polytechnic supervisor, <strong>Gollapudi Narayana<\/strong> to investigate existing recovery oil spill devices to protect Bahrain\u2019s shores.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" deep waters.\u00a0 This project involved using SOLIDWORKS to design an oil skimmers for shallow water.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-7437\" design a remote controlled transporting system, to redesign the toothed disc profile and to reduce the skimmer\u2019s mass by modifying materials.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"
