The first edition of the OPEN_MINDS design contest was held in Gdansk University of Technology and the Academy of Fine Arts, Poland. The contest was held in conjunction with SolidExpert<\/a> Poland our SOLIDWORKS Value Added Reseller.<\/p>\n

Design students created solutions to make shopping easier for people with limited mobility and restriction to wheelchairs.\u00a0 Students incorporated the slogan, \u201cshopABILITY\u201d into the process and user experience.<\/p>\n

After brainstorming, customer research and prototyping, students got to work with SOLIDWORKS customer Bibus Menos<\/a> for training, support and 3D printing of prototypes.<\/p>\n

Students, together with the Institute of Personnel Development, learned best practices of self-presentation and speeches to prepare for final presentation day.\u00a0 Judges were from Bibus Menos, SolidExpert, Alvo Medical and Black Pearls.<\/p>\n

Congratulations to first place team Joanna Charczuk,<\/strong> Gda\u0144sk Academy of Fine Arts Industrial Design, Matthew Kanabrocki<\/strong>, Mechatronics, Sebastian Urbanowski<\/strong> , Mechanical Engineering Technical University of Gdansk and Catherine Wali\u0142ko<\/strong>, Mechanical Engineering \u2013 Medical for their design \u2013 an \u201cadjustable handle on the basket shop fitted to a wheelchair.\u201d<\/p>\n

The winners received a paid internship in industry partner companies and participated in selected, certified training in design in CAD 3D – SolidWorks\u00a0with SolidExpert.<\/p>\n
