This Memorial Day weekend brings thousands to the Boston Common at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument to see the 37,000 US flags, provided by the\u00a0Massachusetts Military Heroes Fund<\/a>. \u00a0The Flag Garden is planted in memory of Massachusetts service men and women who gave their lives in defending our country from the Revolutionary War to the present.<\/p>\n

\"PittsburghStateMemorial\"<\/a><\/p>\n

This weekend the SolidWorks EDU team finds itself at Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, Kansas, USA celebrating the engineering behind the\u00a0Baja SAE East <\/a>event. \u00a0You cannot help but notice the Pittsburg State University’s Veterans Memorial<\/a>, surrounded by 50 state flags,\u00a0to remember the men and women who answered the call of our nation.<\/p>\n

\"Normandy<\/a><\/p>\n

The sea of flags today takes me to another image across the Atlantic to Omaha Beach and the Normandy\u00a0American Cemetery and Memorial,\u00a0Colleville-sur-Mer\u00a0France, 9,387 US service personnel are buried. Each honored with a white monument.<\/p>\n

The engineering behind D-Day, June 6, 1944 and the story that followed, will be featured in the WGBH NOVA D-Day Sunken Secrets<\/a> on Wednesday May 28, 2014 at 9 pm. \u00a0The 3DExperience behind the reenactments were developed by a team of dedicated engineers and designers, under the direction of\u00a0Mehdi Tayoubi, Dassault Syst\u00e8mes Passion for Innovation Leader. \u00a0More than 5,000 ships ventured across the English Channel, with thousands of tanks, landing craft and ~200,000 men.<\/p>\n
