Nevada’s \u00a0Science, Technology, \u00a0Engineering, and Math (STEM) events this month brought out the best in students at exciting competitions.<\/p>\n

\"Solar<\/a><\/p>\n

The 5th annual Solar Car Challenge was held at Northwest Career and Technical Academy. \u00a0Mechanical Technology students raced the solar cars they designed and built.<\/p>\n

\"Bombard<\/a><\/p>\n

Making the connection between students skills and industry requirements was Bombard Renewable Energy, Deidre Radford, Residential Solar Project Manager.<\/p>\n

\"Robot<\/a><\/p>\n

Also taking what’s learned in the classroom to real world issues were the police robots showcasing their “special” skills. \u00a0Great coordination from\u00a0David Philippi, Community <\/span><\/b>Partnership Coordinator,\u00a0<\/span>Northwest Tech Career Center to put the event all together for students and the community.<\/span><\/p>\n

April is the month for Nevada SKILLS. \u00a0 SKILLS competitions take the best from technology schools across the state and place them in one location to compete in Technical Drawing, Precision Machining, Nursing, Web Design, Culinary, and a host of other events. \u00a0Around the US and the world, SKILLS events are taking place,<\/p>\n

\"Technical<\/a><\/p>\n

Nevada SKILLS technical drafting is one of the most quite and intense. \u00a0Students work individually to develop parts, assemblies, bill of materials, and drawings in timed period.<\/p>\n

Carpentry was a team event to build a shed.<\/p>\n

\"Construction<\/a><\/p>\n

I was happy to see the number of women participating in Masonry<\/p>\n

\"Masondry<\/a><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

providing skills and job opportunities.<\/p>\n

\"Construction<\/a><\/p>\n
