Inspiration.\u00a0 That is just one of the reasons the Holy Cows<\/a>\u00a0FRC 1538,\u00a0\u00a0FIRST Robotics team will be featured in the Partner Pavilion at SolidWorks World in San Diego.\u00a0 The Holy Cows team and mentors truly are changing the world.\u00a0 I got a chance to talk with the Holy Cows\u00a0about the team and why they chose SolidWorks.<\/p>\n

\"Holy<\/a><\/p>\n

If the Holy Cows want the world to know something about them, what would it be?<\/b><\/p>\n

Yes, we build robots and yes they look nice. \u00a0People ask us why we put so much effort into making our robots not only look nice, but perform well on the field. The answer to that is simple. Inspiration. When a student on our team sees the result of their work, it inspires self-confidence. Students believe that if they can build this robot that looks and performs great, then they can do anything they set their minds to.<\/p>\n

We also want our robots to be an inspiration for students on other teams. We want them to watch one of our matches and say to themselves “Wow, I want to build a robot like that.” \u00a0Yes, building a robot is great, but what we’re really after is inspiring students\u00a0to get excited about science and engineering.<\/p>\n

Why did the team use SolidWorks?<\/b><\/p>\n

We use SolidWorks because we feel is better prepares students for industry. In addition, the tools SolidWorks provides allows us to get through the design and iteration phase of build season faster.<\/p>\n

\"Holy<\/a><\/p>\n

The Holy Cows were one of the robot teams selected to represent FIRST leading this year\u2019s Macy\u2019s Thanksgiving Day parade to celebrate Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).\u00a0 They also were awarded the 2013 Chairman\u2019s Award \u2013 the highest honor in the FIRST Robotics Competition.<\/p>\n
