They are just one of the many student teams featured at \u00a0SOLIDWORKS\u00a0WORLD 2014 in San Diego, CA.<\/p>\n<p>In 2010, Team Code Orange was founded in mentor&#8217;s<strong> Shelly Nordman&#8217;s<\/strong> living room. \u00a0As a young, community team, they started using SolidWorks to lay out design concepts in 2D sketches. Now all their graduates have gone on to use SolidWorks at their college or at work,<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ZtiuyRPAeiE\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Nate Deffenbaugh,<\/strong>\u00a0Team Captain, stated, &#8220;We used SOLIDWORKS during the 2013 season to great success. \u00a0We have several engineering mentors who use SOLIDWORKS at their employers and teach SOLIDWORKS\u00a0techniques to the team.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/Code-Orange-CAD-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Code Orange CAD 1\" src=\"https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/Code-Orange-CAD-1-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Engineering Mentor, <strong>Robert Pozzo<\/strong>, CSWP, senior design engineer for<a title=\"Applied Medical Resources\" href=\"https:\/\/www.appliedmed.com\/\">\u00a0Applied Medical Resources <\/a>in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA. has been attending SOLIDWORKS\u00a0WORLD since 2001. \u00a0But this year, SOLIDWORKS\u00a0WORLD\u00a0will be very special when Robert gets to share the experience with Team Code Orange students, hungry for engineering knowledge.<\/p>\n<p>Applied Medical Resources\u00a0is the world\u2019s number one Trocar manufacturer. Having the right software, SOLIDWORKS, SOLIDWORKS\u00a0Simulation, from design to manufacturing and automation completely integrated, has given Applied Medical that edge to succeed and to develop its mentor program with Team Code Orange.<\/p>\n<p>Team Code Orange is from Dana Point, California. \u00a0Through their summer camp robotics program, they mentor young students to learn about science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) with fun, under the sea, robots.\u00a0Last year, they received many awards, including winning the Newton division at the FRC 2013 World Championships.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/FRC-Code-Orange-SolidWorks-World-2014.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-5404\" alt=\"FRC Code Orange SolidWorks World 2014\" src=\"https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/FRC-Code-Orange-SolidWorks-World-2014-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/FRC-Code-Orange-SolidWorks-World-2014-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/FRC-Code-Orange-SolidWorks-World-2014-615x461.jpg 615w, https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/FRC-Code-Orange-SolidWorks-World-2014-120x90.jpg 120w, https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/FRC-Code-Orange-SolidWorks-World-2014.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>But perhaps the greatest award happens long after the robot competition. \u00a0Many of these students participate in Applied Medical\u2019s summer internship program where they get hands-on experience working with engineering groups using SOLIDWORKS.\u00a0Some students have been hired full time after they have completed High School.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you Team Code Orange and Applied Medical Resources engineers for sharing with the SOLIDWORKS\u00a0community. \u00a0Marie<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Team Code Orange FRC 3476\u00a0is young, bright and talented when it comes to SOLIDWORKS\u00a0and First Robot Competitions.
