{"id":237,"date":"2011-09-20T07:01:14","date_gmt":"2011-09-20T11:01:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.solidworks.com\/teacher\/kinematics-finding-linkage-cognates-with-solidworks"},"modified":"2011-09-20T07:01:14","modified_gmt":"2011-09-20T11:01:14","slug":"kinematics-finding-linkage-cognates-with-solidworks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.solidworks.com\/teacher\/2011\/09\/kinematics-finding-linkage-cognates-with-solidworks.html","title":{"rendered":"Kinematics Tutorial: Finding Linkage Cognates with SolidWorks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lately, I have been thoroughly enjoying learning about linkages, their motion, and their synthesis. &#0160;Anyone who has tried to find the cognates of a four-bar linkage may have noticed that the process is time-consuming and a bit tedious.<\/p>\n<p>SolidWorks to the rescue!<\/p>\n<p>SolidWorks makes it easy to build the Cayley diagram of a linkage, and subsequently move this diagram to find the cognates. &#0160;In theory, movement of links 2 and 4 to their designated positions will cause the cognates of the linkage to appear, and luckily, in this case, theory becomes reality.
