University of Vermont Prepares for Formula Hybrid + Electric Competition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We say, &#8220;SOLIDWORKS is Everywhere!&#8221;\u00a0 You never know where you will meet\u00a0 SOLIDWORKS users.\u00a0 My colleague, Matthew Hall took a plane to from Dallas to Boston and then took a bus to the University of Vermont campus to meet his wife for a ride home.\u00a0 Walking through the halls, Matthew met a student coming out of a random door and asked\u00a0 the question, &#8220;Do you use SOLIDWORKS?&#8221;\u00a0 Our favorite answer, &#8220;Yes, the team does!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-17510\" src=\"https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/team2-615x461.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"615\" height=\"461\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/team2-615x461.jpg 615w, https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/team2-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/team2-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/team2-728x546.jpg 728w, https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/team2.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 615px) 100vw, 615px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>That team is the<a href=\"https:\/\/uvmaero.org\/\"> University of Vermont Alternative Energy Racing Organization (UVM-AERO)<\/a> that is preparing for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.formula-hybrid.org\/\">Formula Hybrid Electric 2024<\/a> at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.\u00a0 From Matthew&#8217;s simple encounter, I was fortunate to interview mechanical engineering student and battery lead, Caroline Johnson about her journey to UVM and the team&#8217;s evolution to compete at Formula Hybrid Electric April April 29 &#8211; May 2, 2024..<\/p>\n<p>In high school, Caroline didn&#8217;t know much about engineering and loved history &#8211; but there were no jobs majoring in history.\u00a0 She attended a &#8220;Women in Math&#8221; event for high school girls at\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/berks.psu.edu\/\">Penn State &#8211;\u00a0 Berks<\/a> near her hometown. She invested in the club and became project lead for the paneling outside of car.\u00a0 Now she is the battery pack project lead &#8211; a very important job for an electric vehicle. Caroline learned SOLIDWORKS in her engineering courses at UVM.
