When I got hired at Mass Bay Community College, the engineering dean said, &#8220;You are assigned four courses. You can teach anything &#8211; right?\u00a0 Class starts in 1 week.&#8221;\u00a0 Of course I said yes, and for the first semester, I had a lot to learn about teaching.<\/p>\n<p>I developed skills over 10 years of teaching Physics, Calculus, Differential Equations, Computer Science, Engineering Mechanics (statics, dynamics, strength of materials), Computer Science, and Engineering Design &#8211; while I designed and built a CAD Certificate program.\u00a0 I dove into SOLIDWORKS to find relevant lessons to strengthen student&#8217;s math skills and used computer graphics to help them understand the physical meaning of results.<\/p>\n<p>My first exploration included SOLIDWORKS Mass Properties and Section Properties under the Evaluate Tab for my math classes.\u00a0 How many students fail to understand units, surface area, center of mass from a algebra or calculus based example and tie numbers to something physical?\u00a0 Soon I would find SOLIDWORKS Simulation and my love with &#8220;Fun with Physics&#8221; began.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-16034\" src=\"https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/SolidWorks-Mass-Properties-615x461.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"615\" height=\"461\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/SolidWorks-Mass-Properties-615x461.jpg 615w, https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/SolidWorks-Mass-Properties-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/SolidWorks-Mass-Properties-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/SolidWorks-Mass-Properties-728x546.jpg 728w, https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/SolidWorks-Mass-Properties.jpg 1312w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 615px) 100vw, 615px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The SOLIDWORKS Education Edition provides SOLIDWORKS Simulation Applications and Add-Ins with examples to reinforce classroom theory and develop relevant job skills, no matter what grade level you teach. The Tutorials require Algebra.<\/p>\n<p>For injection molding plastics, I would strongly recommend going through the Mold Tutorials on core\/cavity in SOLIDWORKS Tutorials to understand the design and tooling process.<\/p>\n<h2>5. SOLIDWORKS Simulation Tutorials<\/h2>\n<p>With a SOLIDWORKS part open and the SOLIDWORKS Simulations Added &#8211; In, select\u00a0 Help from the Help menu, F1, or ? in the upper right hand corner, inside of SOLIDWORKS, select SOLIDWORKS Simulation Tutorials.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>There are three major categories Tutorials\u00a0 Validation, and NAFEMS Benchmarks.
