{"id":15342,"date":"2023-05-23T13:35:33","date_gmt":"2023-05-23T17:35:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.solidworks.com\/teacher\/?p=15342"},"modified":"2023-05-23T13:53:37","modified_gmt":"2023-05-23T17:53:37","slug":"the-new-equation-in-engineering-science-modsim-equals-solidworks-simulation-platform","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.solidworks.com\/teacher\/2023\/05\/the-new-equation-in-engineering-science-modsim-equals-solidworks-simulation-platform.html","title":{"rendered":"The New Equation in Engineering &#038; Science: MODSIM Equals SOLIDWORKS + Simulation + Platform"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Engineering and Science educators are always the first to embrace new technology while developing students&#8217; understanding of foundational theory.\u00a0 Working for the largest engineering and software company in the world, provides me great insight into trends in industry that are making there way into teaching and learning.<\/p>\n<p>The industry trend is MODSIM &#8211; MODeling and SIMulation.\u00a0 MODSIM is far more than a CAD model or FEA simulation, it involves an iterative development process from concept through commercialization, all integrated through the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/company\/dassaultsystemes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" type=\"external\">Dassault Syst\u00e8mes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\">\n<div class=\"entry-content-asset\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"IASO - A Dassault Syst\u00e8mes 3DEXPERIENCE Platform Showcase for Life Sciences\" width=\"1140\" height=\"641\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/h13nldymb-M?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The IASO example showcases the life science development process as it relates to a SOLIDWORKS user.\u00a0 For students, it shows the depth they will need to know about other organizations involved in the MODSIM process.<\/p>\n<p>In an era where we focus on human interaction, MODSIM takes us into the world of science with the development of a new cancer drug.\u00a0 Drug development and formulation processes, SOLIDWORKS prototypes, stress analysis, fluid behavior, electromagnetic compliance, production lines and shipping protocols are established. Data from patients is compiled. Science and engineering students need to understand how to collaborate with the same product development information.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-15353\" src=\"https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/SOLIDWORKS-to-Platform-615x346.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"615\" height=\"346\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/SOLIDWORKS-to-Platform-615x346.jpg 615w, https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/SOLIDWORKS-to-Platform-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/SOLIDWORKS-to-Platform-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/SOLIDWORKS-to-Platform-1536x865.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/SOLIDWORKS-to-Platform-728x410.jpg 728w, https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/3\/SOLIDWORKS-to-Platform.jpg 1599w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 615px) 100vw, 615px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In SOLIDWORKS education, we have created an offer, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solidworks.com\/media\/3dexperience-engineer-education-datasheet\">3DEXPERIENCE Engineer for Education<\/a>. 3DEXPERIENCE Engineer combines\u00a0 apps from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.3dexperienceworks.com\/\">3DEXPERIENCE Works<\/a> portfolio.\u00a0 A SOLIDWORKS Add-In connects SOLIDWORKS desktop to the cloud platform and the portfolio applications.<\/p>\n<p>From one platform, SIMULIA (analysis), DELMIA (manufacturing), ENOVIA (Data management) apps help students learn the jobs skills required for their careers.<\/p>\n<p>As a mechanical engineer, I was fortunate to work in laboratory automation, designing and supplying robotic systems to pharmaceutical and chemical companies.\u00a0 Working with pharmacists, chemists and biologists, the Lab notebook was critical for FDA or EPA approvals.
