Makers of All Ages at Nantes Maker Campus

Makers of all ages attended the Nantes Maker Campus event in Nantes, France.  With an inspiring setting, SOLIDWORKS was there to support our youngest makers, students, start-ups, and the maker community.

With free SOLIDWORKS Apps for Kids, children age 4-14 got to test out their skills designing and 3DPrinting creations in front of very proud parents. SOLIDWORKS Apps for Kids is a free, fun learning STEM/STEAM web-based tool available for kids ages 4-14. Parents and mentors can sign up for free for SOLIDWORKS Apps for Kids.  We have a special SOLIDWORKS Apps for Kids Classroom – just for teachers and mentors.

Students are makers too.  We got a chance to have students create their own designs with our new tools 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS for Students.  3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS for Students features 100% cloud based CAD apps.  The apps xDesign for prismatic components, xShape for  organic shapes, xSheetMetal, xMold, and xDetail can be used on any device including Mac, Chromebook, PC, tablet or mobile with a web browser.  If you do not have access to SOLIDWORKS desktop in school, you can use 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS included in the student offer.

So what if you are no longer in school?  If you like DIY projects, then 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS  for Makers is for you.  The Maker tools are great for home use to create wooden furniture, design costumes or share ideas with other makers in the free Maker Community starting at just $9.99 (euro)/month.

We also got to visit with start-ups.  The 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS for Startups program provides qualified entrepreneurs free software to startups for the development of their new innovative products.

Thank you to the SOLIDWORKS team for illustrating no matter what your age, it’s a great time to be a maker.

Design well, Marie
