SOLIDWORKS’ mission is to prepare students for great careers with our commercial clients and promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) learning for all students. The SOLIDWORKS academic portfolio supports our mission by offering new tools to help educators teach, manage, and collaborate with their students using SOLIDWORKS and the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. The 3DEXPERIENCE platform is a business and technology platform that provides a collection of web-based and native apps that work together with SOLIDWORKS allowing the educator to teach collaborative 3D Design anywhere and on any device.
Teaching collaborative design with SOLIDWORKS goes beyond part, assembly and drawing. The 3DEXPERIENCE platform, a technology & business platform developed by Dassault Systemes, allows educators to teach the skill sets students need to know to help them get a job.
This year we introduce updates to SOLIDWORKS desktop, cloud connected, and browser-based (pure-cloud) offers for any school’s needs.
- SOLIDWORKS Education Edition desktop, PC based for teaching industry-standard engineering design
- 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS a hybrid solution with SOLIDWORKS connected to cloud apps on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
- 3DEXPERIENCE Engineer, featuring our 3DEXPERIENCE Works portfolio, SIMULIA, DELMIA, CATIA, ENOVIA tools for advanced design and manufacturing
- 3D Designer for Education, a suite of browser-based design tools developed by SOLIDWORKS R&D, to use on any device, anywhere with an internet connection
Class Collaboration. Collaboration tools for educators and their students bring organization, task management, and project control. Inside the platform, we have created a video series to help educators learn how they can use the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to set up and administer a class, deliver lectures and lab sessions, and manage project teams right inside the platform.
Learning Content. You and your students have access to learning paths filled with relevant content. The curriculum takes students through the basics and advanced examples and assessments.
Certification. Industry certification is key. Over 600,000 engineers, designers and students are certified with industry-recognized SOLIDWORKS credentials. This year we introduced a new exam delivery procedure to make the process more streamline and secure for educators. Schools on subscription can apply to become an Academic provider. We also have exams that focus on project management and team collaboration skills with the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. All exams are automatically graded, allowing educators to concentrate on teaching and to provide students life-long credentials.
Community. The SOLIDWORKS community is 6 million strong! We are not stopping there, We have created online communities for students and educators. The 3DEXPERIENCE Academic community is a place for educators to learn from other educators and get great content. The 3DEXPERIENCE Student Community is for everything about our new cloud apps xDesign, xShape and new student offers. Once you create a 3DEXPERIENCE ID, you will have access to the free Student Community. Educators and students are always welcome at a SOLIDWORKS Users Group meeting (virtual meetups too).
2022-2023 marks my 25 year of working with SOLIDWORKS Education offers, both as a professor and a member of the 3DEXPERIENCE Works (SOLIDWORKS) team.
