Awesome Women in Engineering
When engineering and art connect, great motivation occurs to inspire us now and for generations to come. At 3DEXPERIENCE World 2022, we celebrated women’s achievements in engineering, manufacturing, design, and outreach, with the painting, “Awesome Women in Engineering” by Mark Algar.
DASSAULT SYSTEMES commissioned the artist, Mark Algar to highlight 6 incredible women and their passions. Mark, a long-time SOLIDWORKS client, now full-time artist, created works for us such as “The Magic Wheelchair” and the “The Grand Challenge” that are displayed in our Dassault Systemes North American Headquarters in Waltham, MA.
Mark interviewed the women about their work and achievements. The results produced not only the painting but also links to their stories on his connected web page.
As a design engineer, entrepreneur, and ambassador, Melissa Ahmed’s passion shows young entrepreneurs, females from ethnic minorities, and students, that engineering is a viable career choice.
My friend Betty Baker is a SOLIDWORKS Champion, User Group Committee Leader, and a STEM leader educating young women about the exciting opportunities in manufacturing. As a product engineer for Ashley Furniture, she mentors a FIRST Robotics team and even young kids starting in grade 5.
Danielle Boyer, Founder and CEO, The STEAMConnection, is a young Indigenous (Ojibwe – Sault Ste Marie Tribe) robotics inventor, author, activist, and advocate for youth who has been teaching kids since she was ten years old. I first met Danielle when she was in high school. She continues to excite us all with her outreach in education and creative works with SOLIDWORKS Apps for Kids.
Jade Crompton combines art and design and is able to explain her passion to anyone from digital design to wood and ceramics. We are so fortunate that she shares her designs on the SOLIDWORKS Tech Blog.
As our artist in residence at the 3DEXPERIENCE Fab Lab, Kate Reed has designed, engineered and built hundreds of wearable computers. She challenges all our imagination with her innovation in her biomimetric wearables. You can see Kate’s posts in xDesign & xShape in our free Made in 3D Community.
Meaghan Ziemba is on a mission to show young girls the exciting careers available in manufacturing. With her “Mavens of Manufacturing” podcasts, Meaghan is bringing awareness to industry leaders and mentors.
Together, we are proud to know these women and their amazing achievements. They truly are awesome women in engineering,
Be well. Marie
