SOLIDWORKS World – Educating Engineering Students and Achieving SOLIDWORKS Certification

University of Alberta is a top Canadian university located in Edmonton, Alberta, home to 40000 students in a wide variety of programs.  Dr. David S. Nobes, Professor of Mechanical Engineering, presents at SOLIDWORKS World on “Educating Undergraduate Students in Solid Modeling: Success in CSWA.”

David will discuss how engineering drafting and design are taught in the University of Alberta undergraduate program, solely based around solid modelling using SOLIDWORKS.

The second semester course curriculum is discussed in context to the performance of students in the Certified SOLIDWORKS Associate (CSWA) exam after completing nine assignments.  University of Alberta is a SOLIDWORKS Academic Certification provider.

The presentation looks at the continuing effort to bring modern engineering approaches to the academic education experience. This course has been integrated fully into the virtual world and with the design education philosophy across the complete mechanical engineering degree.

Custom designed tutorials have been developed to allow maximum interaction between the new world of solid modelling and design in engineering, interwoven into fundamental concepts in mechanical engineering.

Meet David at SOLIDWORKS World, Feb 4-8, Los Angeles, presenting Monday 2:45 pm.  David, thank you for sharing with the SOLIDWORKS community.  Marie
