Modeling a Butterfly

Butterfly model 3D
My colleague Come sent a report to me this week on the extensive use of SolidWorks in design schools.  As a mechanical engineer, I spent a great deal of time in the machine shop with machined and sheet metal parts.  But there is another side of SolidWorks, the side that industrial designers, artists, and consumer product designers use everyday to make amazing products.  I wanted to share some of those techniques with you.  With the help of Eliza Sosnina , design student who created this beautiful butterfly in SolidWorks, the video also helps to see how it was created with sweeps, lofts,  and planes.  This is the first part of two tutorials.  Next week, the butterfly will be rendered.  Marie
