The workshop has been very interesting and I\u2019m sure all who attended have gained many ideas and and new concepts to use in future data management implementations.<\/p>\n<p>During lunch one of the attendees (Simon Turner) got a phone call from one of his colleagues asking if custom properties can be combined? <\/p>\n<p>First of all if you don\u2019t know Simon let me fill you in\u2026 Simon is Technical Director of Solid Solutions Management, amongst his many roles he is a major part of the API team at Solid Solutions. We believe he played a part in programming the Matrix that we live in.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/2\/6a00d83451706569e2011570e45b09970b.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"TheMatrixWallpaper1024\" border=\"0\" class=\"at-xid-6a00d83451706569e2015437319eda970c\" height=\"184\" src=\"https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/2\/6a00d83451706569e2015437319eda970c.jpg\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px\" title=\"TheMatrixWallpaper1024\" width=\"244\" \/><\/a>&#0160;<\/p>\n<p>Back to the Question\u2026 It took a couple of minutes but Simon and SolidWorks stepped up to the plate and worked out a great and simple solution.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Example: You are doing design work for a client and you want a \u201cClient Code\u201d that comprises of part number (SW-Part Number), client name (Customer) and location (Location).<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>1. Add a Custom Property to your Part template<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>With the properties: \u201cSW-Part Number\u201d, \u201cCustomer\u201d and \u201cLocation\u201d already added to the template. Add another property called \u201cClient Code\u201d.
