He had designed a new form of wind turbine that<br \/>\nlooks much more attractive than the traditional propeller. His hard work and<br \/>\nclever approach are now starting to get the attention of the press. <span>&#0160;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.spiritmag.com\/features\/article\/ecogeek\/\">This article from<br \/>\nSpirit Magazine<\/a> goes into great detail about his philosophy, the design<br \/>\nprocess, and where Michael hopes to go. It\u2019s a great read for anyone interested in<br \/>\ndesign.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><o:p>&#0160;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\">Basically, he\u2019s attacking two of<br \/>\nthe toughest challenges in massive adoption of wind power; first, the NIMBYs<br \/>\n(Not In My Back Yard), and second, the ROI. In the case of the NIMBYs, we all<br \/>\nwould like to see wind power, but we don\u2019t want to look out at our neighbor\u2019s<br \/>\nten-meter-diameter propeller spinning on top of his house. So, Michael\u2019s device<br \/>\nis designed from the start to be unobtrusive. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><o:p>&#0160;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\">The ROI for wind power is not<br \/>\nyet attractive for homeowners. The payback with today\u2019s propeller technology is<br \/>\nup to ten years, but most homeowners keep their homes for less than seven<br \/>\nyears. His cost targets for acquisition and maintenance will make the turbine<br \/>\nmuch more attractive for those of us watching our dollars and Euros.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\">&#0160;<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\">Michael is unaccustomed to<br \/>\nfailure; he has no fear in trying bold new ideas for solving tough problems.<br \/>\nWill he succeed? I wouldn\u2019t bet against him.
