When we think of solutions for our energy future, many of us
\nsee visions of wind turbines, solar panels, geothermal pipes, and possibly
\nnuclear power plants. <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/o:p>That's the supply side, but innovators are working just as
\nhard and creatively on the demand <\/em>side. Managing our energy demand can yield
\ndramatic benefits and more immediate ones.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/o:p>A case in point is EnergyHub<\/a> of Brooklyn, NY, which we featured
\nin today's news release<\/a>.<\/span>
\nThe company\u2019s  <\/span>EnergyHub<\/a> Dashboard, one of TIME<\/em> magazine\u2019s Best
\nInventions of 2009<\/a>, makes it easy for homeowners to control their energy
\nusage, from the furnace to the last cell phone charger, with utter simplicity. It can also <\/span>receive helpful information from utilities
\nabout one\u2019s usage<\/span>. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/o:p>The
\ndashboard serves as the consumer face to the smart grid<\/a>. <\/span>In
\naddition to saving energy and reducing consumers\u2019 electric bills, it also helps
\ntamp the down peak energy requirements that trigger <\/span>the building of new power plants.
