{"id":51738,"date":"2023-02-10T08:00:10","date_gmt":"2023-02-10T13:00:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.solidworks.com\/solidworksblog\/?p=51738"},"modified":"2023-02-07T16:43:33","modified_gmt":"2023-02-07T21:43:33","slug":"inquiring-minds-want-to-knowwhat-would-it-mean-if-you-had-more-time-for-design","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.solidworks.com\/solidworksblog\/2023\/02\/inquiring-minds-want-to-knowwhat-would-it-mean-if-you-had-more-time-for-design.html","title":{"rendered":"Inquiring Minds Want to Know\u2026What Would it Mean if You had More Time for Design?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Inquiring minds want to know\u2026what would it mean if you had more time for design?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Last fall we had a chance to engage with some of our SOLIDWORKS users to try to better understand the challenges many of you are experiencing during your workday &#8211; where you are getting bogged down by low-value tasks, and even more importantly, what it would mean if we could wave a magic wand, and lighten your load so you actually have more time for design work.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the responses we received about what it would mean to have more time for design include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 More quality, more details<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 More money, more learning<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Produce more content<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Do more cool stuff<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Get more work done<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 More time to be creative<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Better design<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Have more fun<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We partnered with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/prettydone\/\">Pretty Done<\/a>, a Las Vegas-based freestyle pop artist to create a 10-foot banner that we are bringing to <strong>3D<\/strong>EXPERIENCE World 2023 in Nashville that visually represents your feedback about what it would mean to have more time for design. Hint \u2013 the #MoreTimeforDesign banner, which will be in the \u201cOld Hive\u201d space, is very Instagramable!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/02\/3dxw2023_solidworks_tshirt-scaled.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"591\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Many of the SOLIDWORKS users we spoke with mentioned spending more time than you would like on emails, meetings, administrative tasks, and all those little things that take time away from your design work. According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.engineering.com\/story\/how-are-engineers-spending-their-time\">Tech-Clarity study on Engineering.com<\/a>, many design and engineering teams report that a third of their time is spent on non-value-added work, and <strong>less than half of their time is spent on design<\/strong> work.
