The company has broken new ground in the transportation industry by establishing the fun utility vehicle (FUV) category for electric vehicles, following the introduction of Arcimoto\u2019s first electric three-wheeled FUV.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/10\/20171215-arcimoto_signature_000-189.jpg\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>When designing their fun utility vehicle, Arcimoto realized that it needed a 3D solid modeling system with integrated mechanical design, electrical design, and engineering solutions.\u00a0 According to Mechincal Engineer\/PDM Administratior Diana Standish, \u201cArcimoto chose the SOLIDWORKS\u00ae design platform because it\u2019s easy to use, includes robust sheet metal and weldment design capabilities, and provides access to a complete set of integrated\u00a0solutions\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Arcimoto couldn\u2019t be swayed when Autodesk offered them Inventor\u00ae 3D design and Vault\u00ae PDM systems free of charge for a limited period of time.\u00a0 It realized shortly after, with a unanimous vote from its engineers, that <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.solidworks.com\/product\/solidworks-3d-cad\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SOLIDWORKS<\/a><\/strong> was the tool they wanted to create their designs in.\u00a0 Since then, Arcimoto has implemented multiple products and added <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.solidworks.com\/product\/solidworks-electrical-schematics\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SOLIDWORKS Electrical Schematics<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/https:\/\/www.solidworks.com\/product\/solidworks-electrical-professional\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SOLIDWORKS Electrical Professional<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.solidworks.com\/product\/solidworks-electrical-3d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SOLIDWORKS Electrical 3D<\/a><\/strong>, and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.solidworks.com\/category\/product-data-management\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SOLIDWORKS PDM Standard<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0to its SOLIDWORKS portfolio.
