{"id":33468,"date":"2007-06-23T12:14:54","date_gmt":"2007-06-23T16:14:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.solidworks.com\/swcommunity\/texas-turns-out"},"modified":"2007-06-23T12:14:54","modified_gmt":"2007-06-23T16:14:54","slug":"texas-turns-out","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.solidworks.com\/solidworksblog\/2007\/06\/texas-turns-out.html","title":{"rendered":"Texas Turns Out Strong"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jeff Ray&#8217;s Texas tour was a huge hit.&nbsp; Record attendance in Houston and San Antonio, and a lively crowd in Austin made Jeff feel welcome everywhere he went.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swugn.org\/pages\/calendar\/UGdetails.html?id=159\">HOUSUG<\/a> group leader Alan Cegeilski, along with Joe Lance and Santiago Laverde of Halliburton, welcomed Jeff to the area with a very nice tour, and a room full of excited SolidWorks users.&nbsp; More than 60 attendees made this the largest HOUSUG meeting ever.&nbsp; The questions from the crowd kept Jeff on stage for more than his allotted time, and we had to blast through the Tips and Tricks Trivia Contest without declaring a winner.&nbsp; The winners are (all with 13 correct &#8211; the tie breaker came in handy):<\/p>\n<p>Santiago Laverde &#8211; 1st place<br \/>Stewart Walker &#8211; 2nd place<br \/>Ray Hawkins &#8211; 3rd place<\/p>\n<p>Your prizes are on the way guys.<\/p>\n<p>Next stop San Antonio for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swugn.org\/pages\/calendar\/UGdetails.html?id=210\">SASUG<\/a> group meeting and another huge crowd.&nbsp; Group leader Jim Lowery showed off the ITM facility while the BBQ was being set up, and the meeting went off without a hitch.&nbsp; The Tips and Trick Contest produced a new record &#8211; Ricky Gutierrez correctly answered 19 of 21 questions for an astounding 91% score.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2013\/08\/usergroupwall.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Usergroupwall\" height=\"98\" alt=\"Usergroupwall\" src=\"https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2013\/08\/usergroupwall_sm.jpg\" width=\"125\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a> Here&#8217;s a (really bad) picture of the SASUG group bulletin board, complete with images of member projects, SolidWorks World badges, and the SASUG logo.<\/p>\n<p>We finished up in Austin with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swugn.org\/pages\/calendar\/UGdetails.html?id=334\">CTSUG<\/a>, Group Leader Bill Casnovsky, and a room full of familiar faces (I used to lead this group back in the day).&nbsp; Although not as large as the previous two meetings, this was a tough crowd with some tough questions for Jeff.&nbsp; Jeff never missed a beat, answering every question enthusiastically.&nbsp; Special thanks to Rex Jackson of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.utexas.edu\/research\/cem\/index.html\">UT-CEM<\/a> who arranged a very interesting tour of the facility.<\/p>\n<p>The Texas <del>Two<\/del>Three-Step tour was a huge success.&nbsp; Thanks to the group leaders, local resellers, and the group members for making Jeff&#8217;s visit a memorable one.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jeff Ray&#8217;s Texas tour was a huge hit.&nbsp; Record attendance in Houston and San Antonio, and a lively crowd in Austin made Jeff feel welcome everywhere he went.
