We talk a lot here about some of our high profile SolidWorks users and how important they are to the SolidWorks Community. Every now and then I am reminded of other "lesser known" users and their contributions to SolidWorks and the community. Ed Cyganik is one of those people.<\/p>\n
I don’t remember at which SolidWorks World conference I first met Ed, but I do remember the situation – listening to Ed pummel a couple of Product Managers at a focus group discussion over what he considered shortcomings with SolidWorks drawings. Ed’s a real stickler for drawing standards (that’s his job after all), and to hear him tell it, SolidWorks drawings were NOT up to snuff. I remember walking into that focus group with three or four of my own issues, and walking out with more than a dozen ("hmmm..yep, you’re right Ed, that does need improvement").<\/p>\n
Ed’s determination and participation over the years has not gone unrewarded. I don’t know if he’s completely satisfied yet, but I know he’ll stick with it. A charter member of the drawings advisory board, he’s been directly responsible for many of the improvements SolidWorks users see today.<\/p>\n
Ed will be back at SolidWorks World next year after a two year absence. I’ve missed his presence at the conference, and I’m glad he’ll be there. I also plan to attend his SolidWorks Implementation session (Monday the 5th, 1:30pm – 2:30pm). If you’re the person responsible for getting off on the right foot with SolidWorks, you should be there too.
