Mouse settings to improve your personal performance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/2\/6a00d83451706569e2017615d5ebea970c-800wi1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-18648\" alt=\"6a00d83451706569e2017615d5ebea970c-800wi\" src=\"https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/2\/6a00d83451706569e2017615d5ebea970c-800wi1.jpg\" width=\"87\" height=\"89\" \/><\/a>Have you considered how your mouse settings affect your personal performance, not just\u00a0in SolidWorks, but also in any application?\u00a0\u00a0With\u00a0mouse speed set\u00a0to slow, you may be physically\u00a0dragging\u00a0your mouse\u00a0too far\u00a0just to access toolbar buttons\u00a0or pulldown menus.\u00a0 If you\u00a0are moving\u00a0your mouse\u00a06 inches\u00a0just to click a toolbar icon, and then moving\u00a0it another 6 inches\u00a0to get back to were\u00a0you where in the graphics area,\u00a0consider improving your settings to increase mouse speed.\u00a0\u00a0Large movements of the mouse on your desk is\u00a0a bad time waster.\u00a0 It is also potentially bad\u00a0ergonomics.<\/p>\n<p>For best results,\u00a0mouse speed\u00a0should be\u00a0set so that you have\u00a0access to all portions of your monitor(s) within a very slight physical movement of the mouse.\u00a0 On Windows 7, you can adjust mouse settings at <em>Start&gt;Control Panel&gt;Mouse<\/em>.\u00a0 (If\u00a0<em>Mouse<\/em> does not appear when you open the <em>Control\u00a0Panel<\/em>, click the <em>View by:<\/em> drop down\u00a0bar\u00a0in the upper right of the <em>Control Panel<\/em> window, and choose <em>Large Icons<\/em>.\u00a0 This will allow you to see all custom setting areas.) \u00a0I have my mouse speed\u00a0set so that I can access any point on my primary monitor within a 2 inch\u00a0diameter of physical movement without triggering the speed threshold.\u00a0\u00a0The threshold is the speed you\u00a0move your\u00a0mouse to trigger faster movement of the cursor.\u00a0 \u00a0I&#8217;m using a medium threshold.\u00a0 This allows me to quickly move my cursor between monitors with very little extra movement of my mouse.<\/p>\n<p>Essentially, a faster mouse\u00a0allows you\u00a0to control your\u00a0entire desktop with very little physical movement.\u00a0 It increases speed of operation.\u00a0 It is also generally more ergonomic.<\/p>\n<p>If you are physically moving your mouse a lot just to access different points on the monitor, try\u00a0experimenting\u00a0with your mouse speed.\u00a0 You don&#8217;t have to set your mouse speed to be super fast right away.\u00a0 Incrementally improve mouse speed over a few weeks until you get to a point where you are comfortable with high mouse sensitivity.\u00a0 Happy mousing!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Have you considered how your mouse settings affect your personal performance, not just in SolidWorks, but also in any application?
