Sneak Peek: 15 Features coming in SOLIDWORKS 2015 – Costing for Weldments
Each year SOLIDWORKS releases a new version of its flagship product. This year, during the 15 days prior to the release of SOLIDWORKS 2015 we’re taking a look at 15 of our favorite new features coming in this feature packed release. To learn more about SOLIDWORKS 2015, you can click the banner above and bookmark the launch page for when it goes live on September 9th, 2014.
SOLIDWORKS Costing 2015 now supports weldments for a more comprehensive support of manufacturing methods. Like other manufacturing methods, Weldments support includes unique characteristics and are costed based on either a stock length or on a per unit length method. This helps ensure an accurate manufacturing cost and also provides insight into potential waste. Costmetic Welds are also supported to include welding costing and time based on length and size of the weld.
By automating weldment costing, you can manage manufacturing costs more readily and easily evaluate the impact different options or designs make in a shortened time frame.
