The "What ELSE is New in SolidWorks 2012" Road Show

Starting next week I'll be hitting the road with my annual "What's REALLY ELSE New in SolidWorks 2012" presentation.  I've been doing a similar presentation each year since SolidWorks 2007, and it's my absolute favorite way to show off some of the new features and functionality that don't get the big headlines, but are important nonetheless.  For the past couple of years, I've also thrown in a few "classic" SolidWorks Tips and Tricks.

This year will be special.  Several SolidWorks resellers have graciously allowed me some time at their upcoming SolidWorks 2012 Launch Events – I'll be appearing at 8 different events in October.  Here's a look at the first week.

Monday, October 3rd – Solon, Ohio
Fisher/Unitech
The first stop is the Signature of Solon Country Club for a lunch time presentation (I hope I'll get time to eat).  This looks like a fun event, with food, a modeling contest, and some golf games. Given the social media prowess of their Director of Marketing and Communications Lisa Van Giesen, it should also be very well attended.  I'm also sure to see my good friendDan Bertschi– he never misses a SolidWorks event.

Tuesday, October 4th – Auburn Hills, Michigan
DASI Solutions
David Darbyshire, Engineer/Owner of DASI, is one of my favorite people in the SolidWorks Community.  David will be the Master of Ceremonies for the 2012 Launch Event next Tuesday and I'm really looking forward to hanging out all day with DASI customers.  I met quite a few new SolidWorks users at the SWUGN Summit – Detroit, and it will be nice to see some of them again.

Wednesday, October 5th – Palatine, Illinois
CATI
I'll be following the keynote speaker here – none other than SolidWorks own Fielder Hiss.  I'll also get to hang out with Ed Eaton, and some folks from the Chicago and Chicago West SolidWorks User Groups.  There is also the "Redneck Workarounds" session at 3:15 – who will be the speaker?  Josh?  Adrian?  I guess I'll find out then.

Thursday, October 6th – Davenport, IA
Tridaq
Davenport is a quaint little town, and home to the Eastern Iowa SolidWorks User Group.  I've known Tridaq President Dick Longoria for a long time, and I know his organization really supports local user group chapters.  The last time I was in Davenport, I spoke at a user group meeting for nearly three hours.  Let's hope I don't ramble on that long at this event.

Wow – what a week.  Lots of windshield time to be sure, but the stops in between will make it all worth it.  If you are a customer of any of these SolidWorks resellers, I sure hope you'll come out and help us celebrate the launch of SolidWorks 2012.

Richard Doyle
My official title is Senior User Advocacy & SolidWorks User Groups - but most people just call me "The User Group Guy". I've been a SolidWorks user since 1997, and was one of the founding members of the SWUGN Committee. Since starting the Central Texas SolidWorks User Group in 1999, my career path has led me to DS SolidWorks and a dream job supporting the SolidWorks User Group Network worldwide.
