SolidWorks World 2011 Partner Profile: Geometric Technologies

One of the things we've heard from SolidWorks World attendees over the past few years is that you'd like to learn more in advance about the SolidWorks partners who set up booths in the Partner Pavilion. So now through the end of SolidWorks World, we'll be posting a series of blog entries about some of the partners you might think about checking out, and the people who will be representing them. Today we hear from Sunil Palrecha, Director of Product Marketing and Sales at Geometric Technologies.

1. Tell us about Geometric Technologies.
Geometric Technologies develops cutting?edge productivity solutions for  CAD/CAM industry. Both DFMPro and CAMWorks are seamlessly integrated within the SolidWorks® platform, enabling intelligence and automation in design as well as manufacturing processes.

CAMWorks for SolidWorks is an intuitive 3D based CAM solution that helps manufacturers increase productivity and profitability through best-in-class technologies and adaptable automation tools that maximize machining efficiencies. DFMPro for SolidWorks facilitates upstream manufacturability validation by helping in identification of areas of a design that are difficult, expensive, or impossible to manufacture. It automates the iterative design review process for manufacturability.

2. Why should SolidWorks World attendees visit your booth?
In this current global scenario, manufacturing companies are searching for ways to automate their processes, compress delivery times, and reduce inefficiencies. In order to achieve these goals, they are looking for novel solutions for trapping manufacturing errors early in the design stage, and for effective collaboration between designing and manufacturing. This can be easily facilitated by using integrated SolidWorks solutions like DFMPro and CAMWorks.

Attendees can preview the latest versions of CAMWorks 2011and DFMPro 2.2 at our booth. CAMWorks 2011 provides significant new capabilities, including improved knowledge?based machining information, a new electrode design solution for the mold and die industry, smarter tool paths. In this version, the technologies that enable automation of NC programming have also been enhanced.

3. How can your products or services help make a SolidWorks user’s life easier?
CAMWorks is seamlessly integrated within the SolidWorks® environment which facilitates automatic accommodating changes to the part model, thereby eliminating time consuming CAM system rework due to design updates and  thus enabling true associative machining. It eliminates hours of complex programming through Automatic Feature Recognition (AFR) that automatically defines prismatic machinable features, while a Knowledge Database (Technology Database) defines machining operations to automatically generate accurate toolpaths at the click of a button.

DFMPro’s injection molding module packed with some of the most important industry best practices for manufacturability of injection molded components related to wall thickness, draft analysis, undercuts, mold wall thickness, ribs, bosses, etc. SolidWorks users will be able to quickly verify their designs within SolidWorks, thus reducing cost and time-to-market, while also improving the quality of manufactured parts. DFMPro also facilitates collaborative design review process by generating comprehensive 3D reports in eDrawings format. This capability is very useful for suppliers to quickly generate eDrawings reports and share it with the OEM for their review, comments and acceptance.
