SWUGN Year in Review – August 2009

Top Story
My busiest travel month of 2009 takes me to Iowa, Minnesota, and Vancouver.  I logged nearly 700 driving miles during the Iowa trip, flew "internationally" for Vancouver, and finally, after ten years, got to meet SolidWorks user Jay Guthrie in Minnesota.  Nothing makes me happier than visiting with SolidWorks users at user group meetings and SWUGN Summit events, so August was something special.

Honorable Mentions
Several SolidWorks bloggers are invited to a private showing of SolidWorks 2010 in Concord.  The traditional CAD media reacts.

The SWUGN Summit – Minneapolis draws 157 attendees, down 6 from the year prior.  Minnesota SolidWorks User Group leader and SWUGN rep Dan Podzimek vows that it will never happen again.

SolidWorks World VIP codes are issued to user group leaders.  Yep – they get in free.

A tornado is reported in downtown Minneapolis.  Normally it wouldn't affect me personally, but I happen to be getting on a flight from Minneapolis to Chicago.  Needless to say, the flight is delayed.

A temporary glitch with the new SolidWorks forums prevents folks from logging in.  Some of them panic and start sending me a lot of emails.
