My SolidWorks World Sessions

I originally intended to complete my schedule last Friday, but I took the weekend to refine my choices.  It wasn't easy – there are way too many really good sessions to choose from.  Here's is my schedule, and some of the reasons I chose the sessions I did.

Monday, February 1st – 10:30am to 12:00pm
Live Build of a SolidWorks CAD Computer
Devon Sowell, 3-D Design Solutions and Anna Wood, Auer Precision
This was a tough choice, but I was able to narrow it down a little because I've already seen a couple of these sessions at other events.  I chose Devon and Anna's session because I've never seen anything like it before.

Monday, February 1st - 1:30pm to 2:30pm
In Context Modeling: The Original Design Automation
Jason Raak, RockSolid Perspective
I had to rule out the hands-on session (it's full), and I've already seen a couple of the others.  I have not seen Jason present though, so here's my chance.

Monday, February 1st - 2:45pm to 3:45pm
SolidWorks and LEGOs – Tangible Methods That Really Stack Up
Adam Scheible, Portland Community College
SolidWorks AND Lego's?  Easy choice.

Monday, February 1st - 4:30pm to 6:00pm
11th Annual SWUGN Summit
The SolidWorks User Group Network Committee
I know it wasn't in my original list of choices, but I haven't missed a SWUGN Summit since…well, never.  I'll be hosting this meeting along with the SWUGN Committee and scores of SolidWorks User Group Leaders.  If you have questions about SolidWorks User Groups – where to find one, how to start one, or what they are all about, this is the place to be.

Tuesday, February 2nd – 10:30am to 12:00pm
Effective Use of the Hole Wizard
Brian Lindahl, CAD_Speed-Up
I missed this session in Minneapolis, so I'm going to see it now.  I've had the pleasure of sitting in on another of Brian's presentations and I know I will pick up a lot of good information here.

Tuesday, February 2nd – 1:30pm to 2:30pm
SolidWorks Crashes and Slowdowns – It's Not Always the Software
Jeff Mirisola, JRM Consulting
I've simply got to see what Jeff has done with this presentation.  I do plan to wear a Yankees cap though, just for fun.

Tuesday, February 2nd – 2:45pm to 3:45pm
Visualization 101 – The Basics of Appearances, Materials, and Rendering
Ron Bates, SolidWorks Corporation
I like this session because it delves into three areas, all related.  I'm very curious to learn more about how appearances are applied and managed.

Tuesday, February 2nd – 4:30pm to 6:00pm
The Seven Wonders of Windows 7 for CAD Professionals
Simon Floyd, Microsoft
Since I've not even strayed away from Windows XP, I feel compelled to attend this session if only to see what the major differences are between XP and Win7.  I'll be upgrading soon, and I'm sure this session will make the whole process easier.

Wednesday, February 3rd- 10:30am to 12:00pm
Mechatronics and SolidWorks Event Based Motion – A Perfect Match
Ian Hogg, SolidWorks Corporation
I love machine design, and seeing them in Motion with SolidWorks fascinates me.

Wednesday, February 3rd – Birds-of-a-Feather
I'm going to pop in to as many of the BOF rooms as I can.

Wednesday, February 3rd - 1:30pm to 2:30pm
Cash Cow? Yes, Using SolidWorks
Bill Casnovsky, Caz Dezign
Bill works on a lot of stuff that he can't show to people until it's finished.  I want to see what the unique product is.

Wednesday, February 3rd - 2:45pm to 3:45pm
Unemployed Models – Keep Them Working in Manufacturing
Dan Bertschi, Babcock and Wilcox
This was really tough, but I decided to go see what Dan has to say about "Unemployed Models".  It should be interesting.

So that's it, my complete session schedule for SolidWorks World.  I have lots of other stuff going on too, and I expect to be very busy every day.  I'll start off Saturday and Sunday morning at the registration desk, helping attendees getregistered and find their way around.  I hope to see you there – let me know what I can do to help make your SolidWorks World experience the best it can be.
