2008 SWUGN User Group Leader of the Year

"…a really terrific guy…."

That's how I introduced Rob Jensen as he walked to the stage at SolidWorks World to accept the 2008 Group Leader of the Year award.  Rob is one of those special SolidWorks users that is always giving back to the community.

It's fitting that Rob takes home the award from Orlando because it was the SWUGN Summit meeting at SolidWorks World 2005 (in Orlando) where he was inspired to start the Southern Minnesota SolidWorks User Group.  I remember him being a little nervous about the whole thing, wondering if he could pull it off.  I think it's safe to say he has.  Since then, average attendence has grown to nearly 50, the group hasn't missed a quarterly meeting yet, and a special meeting in May 2008 at Rochester Community Technical College gave students and educators the opportunity to show off some of the great things they are doing with SolidWorks and Rapid Prototyping.

Rob has branched out quite a bit since starting his user group, gaining MVP status on the SolidWorks discussion forums, presenting at SWUGN Summit events, and starting his own SolidWorks blog.  I don't know what else he has up his sleeve, but whatever it is, I know it will benefit SolidWorks users everywhere.

Congratulations Rob!

My official title is Senior User Advocacy & SolidWorks User Groups - but most people just call me "The User Group Guy". I've been a SolidWorks user since 1997, and was one of the founding members of the SWUGN Committee. Since starting the Central Texas SolidWorks User Group in 1999, my career path has led me to DS SolidWorks and a dream job supporting the SolidWorks User Group Network worldwide.
