CircuitWorks Acquisition – More Than Just Software

Cellphone A long (long) time ago, I used to design Printed Circuit Boards.  In those days, my tools including colored pencils, mylar, donut pads, and black crepe tape of varied widths (I told you, it was a long, long time ago).  These days, PCB design is done using computer programs with just a touch of human interaction.  When complete, the file can be exported (IDF or PADS files) and a program like CircuitWorks can automate the task of creating a "physical" model in SolidWorks.  Really cool!

The acquisition of Priware is more than just CircuitWorks.  It also brings along a couple of guys that have been supporting the SolidWorks Community for a long time – Rob Lacey and Paul Boswell.  These guys came all the way from the UK to exhibit several times at the All-Texas SolidWorks User conferences, have appeared at local meetings, and are regulars at SolidWorks World.  Next year in Orlando, it looks like they’ll be wearing those gray and orange SolidWorks shirts.

I can’t wait to start doing CircuitWorks sessions at user group meetings.
