Charlotte, North Carolina – Group Leader Central

John McEleney continued his user group tour with the Charlotte SolidWorks User Group on Tuesday, and the local user group leaders turned out in full force.  In addition to Charlotte group leader Van Phifer, We also had Rodney Hall (Hickory, Catawba Valley – come on Rodney, make up your mind), Wes Cobb (WNC-Asheville), and Matt Lombard (SWUGN, Charlottesville) join us for another terrific meeting.  It was a star-studded lineup indeed.

The venue was something a little out of the ordinary for a user group meeting.  The City Towers in Charlotte offered spectacular views of the city, and the City Club room we used was something right out of "Trading Places" (remember the Heritage Club?).  There was a bit of scrambling around to figure out the best place for presenters, and eventually we were able to hook right into the HDTV hanging from the wall.  Special thanks to Mike Voll of Trimech for helping to set up the event.

Dave LeBlanc, a SolidWorks developer out of the Madison, WI office was also on-hand, and did a great job with the drawings presentation.  Thanks Dave – the session was very well received.

As I finish this post, I’m waiting for Tom Ellis and the rest of the crew from the Atlanta Metro SolidWorks User Group, the last stop on the Southern Swing.  Next week, the State of Texas has the honor and privilege to host SolidWorks COO Jeff Ray.  I’m looking forward to the meetings in Houston, San Antonio, And Austin…and being home for a while.
