The following blog is co-written by my colleague Junko Arai, SOLIDWORKS EDU Senior Sales Specialist Japan.
Formula SAE Japan (FSAEJ), started in 2003, is an opportunity for students to develop various skills involved with object creation and as training for those who will one day play critical roles in the future of the automotive industry.

The Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan, Inc. unites students, engineers and industry professionals by the common passion of automotive research. SAE Japan consists of more than 50,000 individual members and over 500 corporate members.

Dassault Systèmes and SOLIDWORKS EDU team support these students to design, produce and race a vehicle by providing free software tools through the SOLIDWORKS Student Team Sponsorship program.

Before the event, SOLIDWORKS Japan Industry Process Consultants (IPC) engineers provide training sessions to FSAEJ students to develop the necessary skills in SOLIDWORKS and the 3DEXPERIENCE platform for competition and their future careers.
We are happy to share the FSAEJ 2025 results with the SOLIDWORKS Community.

We applaud the efforts of Nagoya University FSAEJ team that placed first overall in FSAEJ EV. Using SOLIDWORKS, these future engineers are well on the way to being prepared to work in the transportation industry as 90% of the EV automotive industry uses Dassault Systèmes technology.

Nagoya University Formula Team FEM once again recaptured first place in the EV category, achieving back-to-back victories and successfully rebuilding their team as an EV powerhouse.
The team broke the acceleration record and outperformed all ICV teams in autocross. Next year, they will continue to work towards their goal, to ‘break records in the dynamic events’ and demonstrate the speed of EV vehicles, even against ICV teams. The SOLIDWORKS community will be there to cheer you on.

Congratulations to Doshisha University Racing that successfully completed the endurance race and achieved single-digit rankings in all events except efficiency, enabling the team to reach the goal of 2nd place overall in ICV. The team stated, “Our concept is ‘fun to drive’, and we develop each formula car with the goal of creating a fast yet easy-to-handle car that is highly reliable and durable.”

Years ago, Osaka University presented at SOLIDWORKS World Japan. (Marie: I was honored to sit in their FSAEJ vehicle), Osaka University Formula Team is leading the way in combining SOLIDWORKS with the 3DEXPERIENCE platform technology to develop their race car in the ICV category.
For over a decade, SOLIDWORKS Japan has supported FSAEJ and its students. From Hokkaido University in northern Japan to Kyushu Institute of Technology (KIT) in the southern Japan, to thousands of students in between, we look forward in sharing more student stories with our SOLIDWORKS community.
Thank you Junko and the SOLIDWORKS Japan team for your support.
Design well. Marie
