It’s April and time to think of Spring – but in Massachusetts today it is snowing. Now is a great time to share the “Snowflake project” by Middle School teacher, Amy Hamilton. Amy uses this project to excite her students, ages 10 – 13, about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) with SOLIDWORKS.
“Empowering Young Engineers: Teaching SOLIDWORKS to Middle-Grade Students” is part of the SOLIDWORKS EDU Webinar series, Amy shared her projects, classroom tips, and SOLIDWORKS certification for her students.
Amy incorporates additive manufacturing into her classroom on all three grade levels. At Skills, a state level technical competition, her students took home the gold – lots of gold medals.
Teaching some form of drafting, design, and CAD since the 1980’s, Amy starting with traditional drafting boards, paper, and pencils, to SolidWorks in 2009. She is an educational leader, helping other educators around the world. As POLK-FL SOLIDWORKS User Group Leader, Amy brings together educators and our commercial customers to showcase the latest technologies. Her virtual User Group meeting, from London calling Oahu, brought Additive Manufacturing expert Kirby Downy into the classroom of local Oahu teachers.
Want to excite your students why they are learning SOLIDWORKS? Take a look at Kirby’s examples from the Entertainment Industry.
Anyone can join the POLK-FL SOLIDWORKS User Group or multiple user groups around the world. Many user groups have virtual meetings.
Thank you Amy for all you do to help your students, educators and the entire SOLIDWORKS community.
Design well, Marie
