Based off their names, I wondered if they would function similarly to \u003Ca href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fwww.draftsight.com\u002F?utm_medium=Display&utm_source=Blog&utm_campaign=DraftSight_Blog&utm_content=Blog_RC_InText_91919&utm_term=link-text\" data-id=\"59408\">DraftSight’s\u003C\u002Fa> Block operations.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, I did some experimenting, and found that the Group icons allow you to join multiple objects into one entity. Now, you might be saying to yourself that creating a Block does the same, which technically it does – but there is a distinguishing factor between the two that I’ll reveal to you in this post.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But first, let’s discuss the basics: A group is created by selecting the entities you’d like to conjoin and pressing the Quick Group icon.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once a group is made, you can use the Edit EntityGroup feature to add and remove entities, and rename your group – by simply clicking the icon, selecting your group, and specifying the alteration you’d like to make.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And as always, \u003Ca href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fwww.draftsight.com\u002F?utm_medium=Display&utm_source=Blog&utm_campaign=DraftSight_Blog&utm_content=Blog_RC_InText_91919&utm_term=link-text\" data-id=\"59408\">DraftSight\u003C\u002Fa> has a Quick Ungroup icon, in case you decide against your revisions.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unlike Blocks, when you decide to change a single group using the Edit EntityGroup, duplicates of that group in your drawings will not be effected by those alterations.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this sense, Groups are more easily manipulated in the drawing window, whereas Blocks act more like set templates in your designs.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I hope this post encourages you to incorporate Groups in your \u003Ca href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fwww.draftsight.com\u002F?utm_medium=Display&utm_source=Blog&utm_campaign=DraftSight_Blog&utm_content=Blog_RC_InText_91919&utm_term=link-text\" data-id=\"59408\">DraftSight\u003C\u002Fa> drawings!\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Check out the video below to see Groups in action!\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(0:00 Quick group, 0:14 Remove entity, 0:35 Add entity, 0:48 Rename, 0:59 Ungroup)\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cdiv class=\"ds-video\">\u003Ca data-3ds-videoplayer=\"modal\" href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fblog-assets.solidworks.com\u002Fuploads\u002F2025\u002F12\u002Fgroup.mp4\" target=\"_blank\">\u003Cspan class=\"ImageCover Border Block\" style=\"background-image: url(\u002Fassets\u002Fimg\u002F3ds-default.webp);
