{"id":2818,"date":"2010-07-29T23:12:50","date_gmt":"2010-07-30T03:12:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.solidworks.com\/delmiaworks\/everything-i-need-is-in-my-erp-software\/"},"modified":"2010-07-29T23:12:50","modified_gmt":"2010-07-30T03:12:50","slug":"everything-i-need-is-in-my-erp-software","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.solidworks.com\/delmiaworks\/everything-i-need-is-in-my-erp-software\/","title":{"rendered":"Everything I Need \u2026 Is In My ERP Software!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/17\/Everything-In-ERP-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-665 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/blog-assets.solidworks.com\/uploads\/sites\/17\/Everything-In-ERP-1-300x164.png\" alt=\"Everything you need is in an ERP system\" width=\"300\" height=\"164\" \/><\/a>One unfortunate morning a few years ago, I got an early call at home from my boss informing me that my 1st floor office had been broken into and my computer was stolen.\u00a0 It so happened that I had left my laptop on my desk, hooked to an external monitor, a VOIP phone and a printer.\u00a0 When the burglar alarm\/noise-intrusion sensor went off, scaring the intruders into a more heightened sense of urgency, they made a quick grab for my laptop, but ended up dragging along the monitor, the phone and the printer.\u00a0 Pieces of my printer (the paper tray, paper, little broken plastic pieces) were strewn across the parking lot.\u00a0 By the time the police arrived on the scene, the intruders were long gone, miscellaneous plastic parts left behind, and they were likely on the highway headed out of town.<\/p>\n<p>Not surprisingly, I panicked at this news.\u00a0 What about all my information?\u00a0 My reports?\u00a0 My data?\u00a0 What would I do?\u00a0 How painful would this be?<\/p>\n<p>The local police made note of all the pertinent information but offered little hope for recovery.\u00a0 Our IT department made available an alternate computer for my use while ordering me a new one;\u00a0 I received the usual talking-to about backing-up my data.\u00a0 When I finally got back to work, I quickly found that I wasn\u2019t in too much trouble.<\/p>\n<p>I still had access to our <a title=\"EnterpriseIQ ERP\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iqms.com\/products\/\" target=\"_blank\">EnterpriseIQ ERP<\/a> system!\u00a0 They couldn\u2019t take that away from me.\u00a0 I can access the system from anywhere, log in, run a report, review <a title=\"documents\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iqms.com\/products\/quality\/doccontrol.html\" target=\"_blank\">documents<\/a>, respond to <a title=\"workflows\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iqms.com\/products\/workflow.html\" target=\"_blank\">workflows<\/a> &#8211; from anywhere.<\/p>\n<p>Until that day, I hadn\u2019t realized that the bulk of any day\u2019s work was not dependent on my personal computer, my stored information or my reports.\u00a0 Most of any day\u2019s work could be completed by accessing information in EnterpriseIQ, views or reports.<\/p>\n<p>For my purposes related to both Administration and <a title=\"HR\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iqms.com\/products\/erp\/human_resources\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">HR<\/a>, areas I access on any given day include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a title=\"Sales Orders\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iqms.com\/products\/erp\/sales_mgmt\/salesorders.html\" target=\"_blank\">Sales Orders<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Backlog and <a title=\"Forecast\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iqms.com\/products\/erp\/manufacturing\/scheduling\/forecasting.html\" target=\"_blank\">Forecast<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Packing Slips\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iqms.com\/products\/erp\/sales_mgmt\/packing.html\" target=\"_blank\">Packing Slips<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Invoices\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iqms.com\/products\/erp\/financial_mgmt\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Invoices<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Customer Maintenance<\/li>\n<li>Customer Status<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Purchase Orders\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iqms.com\/products\/supplychain.html\" target=\"_blank\">Purchase Orders<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Vendor Maintenance<\/li>\n<li>Vendor Status<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Inventory\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iqms.com\/products\/erp\/manufacturing\/inventory\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Inventory<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Employee Maintenance\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iqms.com\/products\/erp\/human_resources\/iq_workforce.html\" target=\"_blank\">Employee Maintenance<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Applicant Tracking\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iqms.com\/products\/brochures\/HR.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Applicant Tracking<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Job Descriptions<\/li>\n<li>CRM Calendar<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"CRM\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iqms.com\/products\/crm.html\" target=\"_blank\">CRM<\/a> Meetings, Tasks, and Calls<\/li>\n<li>Workflow<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And on and on.\u00a0 It was almost disappointing.\u00a0 My data isn\u2019t even really special (although my particular role is);\u00a0 I\u2019m replaceable by someone else (or perhaps multiple individuals) who is (are) trained in the system, can access the same information, and plan equivalent courses of action.\u00a0 One of the tremendous values in having a comprehensive ERP system is in the ease with which I can fulfill my responsibilities, independent of specific hardware or location, as well as the ease with which a \u201cbackup\u201d could do the same.<\/p>\n<p>I still try to remember to back-up the data on my personal computer, but I\u2019m confident that most of the information I need at work will be available to me when I need it.\u00a0 It\u2019s nice to NOT worry about something!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One unfortunate morning a few years ago, I got an early call at home from my boss informing me that my 1st floor office had been broken into and my computer was stolen.\u00a0 It so happened that I had left<\/p>\n... <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.solidworks.com\/delmiaworks\/everything-i-need-is-in-my-erp-software\/\">Continued<\/a>","protected":false},"author":560,"featured_media":2819,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[25,1],"tags":[66],"class_list":["post-2818","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-all-posts","category-uncategorized","tag-comprehensive-erp"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.solidworks.com\/delmiaworks\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2818","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.solidworks.com\/delmiaworks\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.solidworks.com\/delmiaworks\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.solidworks.com\/delmiaworks\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/560"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.solidworks.com\/delmiaworks\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=2818"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.solidworks.com\/delmiaworks\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2818\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.solidworks.com\/delmiaworks\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/2819"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.solidworks.com\/delmiaworks\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=2818"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.solidworks.com\/delmiaworks\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=2818"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.solidworks.com\/delmiaworks\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=2818"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
