SolidWorks Part Reviewer: Forged Hook Assembly

Forged Hook Assembly:
A surface loft forms the main surface of the hook. A loft is used instead of a sweep so that the dimensions from the 4 intermediate sections can be inserted into the drawing. A sweep would not have the intermediate sketches.

The loft itself uses 4 profiles and two guide curves (the inside and outside edges of the hook, converted from the layout sketch). The option to “merge tangent faces” is left off. The edges will be useful for later blending the hook into the load pin area. The shape is also more accurate, as “merge tangent faces” would fit a spline over the original sketch contours.
