For the first time in Turkey, the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) Istanbul Regional brought together 39 high school teams from 18 different cities.
FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) was founded in 1989 by Dean Kamen, to inspire young people’s interest and participation in science and technology. More than robots, FIRST designs accessible, innovative programs that motivate young people to pursue education and career opportunities in STEM, while building self-confidence, knowledge, and life skills. With the help of Dassault Systemes SOLIDWORKS, Turkey Sales Manager, Burak Kuralkan and his team of SOLIDWORKS engineers and Value Added Resellers, students in Turkey have spent months designing their own robots with the training and software they received from SOLIDWORKS. The FIRST Regional Istanbul brought together a community to celebrate engineering in Ulker Sports Arena, Atasehir, famous for international sports. But FIRST Robotics is a sport “for the minds”. bringing together some of Turkey brightest.
The SOLIDWORKS Turkey team has partnered with Fikret Yüksel Foundation to support the FIRST Regional Istanbul event, provides training with our VAR network, and job ready skills through SOLIDWORKS Certification.
For the next two months, there are FRC events all over the world. More information can be found here. Thank you Burak and SOLIDWORKS Turkey for sharing with the SOLIDWORKS and FIRST community. Marie
SOLIDWORKS is the Modeling Solutions Partner for FIRST, providing the engineering documentation tools with SOLIDWORKS Composer to assist in the creation of the Game Manual, Field Drawings, and Field Assembly Instructions for FRC.SOLIDWORKS is also a Crown Supplier to FIRST Robotics, providing SOLIDWORKS software to FIRST teams. Burak got to meet FIRST Kit of Parts manager, Kate Pilotte, on her first trip to Turkey. Burak also caught up with President of FIRST, Don Bossi at the event. For three days we got to share our love of engineering with students and our customers.
