Will NIU Shell Eco-marathon Engineers Exchange Cars with Jay Leno?

The Northern Illinois University (NIU) College of Engineering and Engineering Technology has strong competitive, Society of Automotive and Aerospace Engineering teams in FSAE, BAJA, Clean Snowmobile, Aero Design and Supermileage. The NIU Supermileage Team competes in the Shell Eco-marathon, a global program that challenges high school and college student teams to design, build and test the most energy-efficient vehicles.

NIU Supermileage Team helped promote the Shell Eco-marathon Americas Event by recording a television commercial with Jay Leno.

NIU has a multidiscipline engineering team. Four team members traveled to California to film at Jay Leno’s Garage NBC TV show. Mechanical engineering graduate student Kallol Barai, senior Lindsey Dodis (mechanical engineering, mechatronics and robotics), senior mechanical engineering major Kevin Kuebrich and junior energy and environmental technology student Christian McAdoo represented NIU at the Shell-NBC commercial.
