FABLABs and 3D Printers

FAB10 SolidWorks Announcement Sherry Lassitor - Marie Planchard

At FAB10Barcelona, Sherry Lassitor and I  announced SolidWorks support for the FAB Foundation to cheers from the FABLAB audience.

The FABFoundation.org supports over 300 FABLABs and FAB Academies around the world.

I see great work from FABLABs using SolidWorks from designing new products to educational outreach.  I have also seen more 3D Printers in one area than ever before.  That is because FABLAB10 created a super – FABLAB at FAB10 Barcelona.

The super – FABLAB showed:

But one 3DPrinter truly stands out to me.  I got to talk to FABLAB WoeLab,

WoeLab is responsible for creating 3D Printers from recycled computer and printer waste.

WoeLab also has a computer project that recycles computer e-waste to create new computers in a Jerrycan.

Computer in a Bag

WoeLab is truly educating the world.  Think about how many computers, printers, monitors you have thrown away or put in a recycle bin?  The next breakthrough will come when the spool of material can come from recycled plastic.  Marie
