HelmetHub Makes Getting a Bike Helmet Easy, Mass Challenge Finalist

HelmetHub SolidWorks Model

At the start of your capstone/senior design project, engineering students are presented with a problem.  With little or no direction, your team must solve the problem.  In MIT, Professor David Wallace's 2.009 class, Product Engineering Processes, one idea has gone far beyond the grade.

HelmetHub introduces a machine to dispense helmets alongside the existing stations in bikeshare programs, ensuring that a helmet is available when you want it.  In Boston, like many cities, bikeshare is everywhere. It is a great way to tour the city or just get some exercise along the Charles River.  But getting a helmet has not been easy or convinent – until HelmetHub.

HelmetHub has made it to the Mass Challenge Finals to be held on October  23, 2012 in Boston.  We wish HelmetHub founder, Chris Mills and the HelmetHub team the best of luck.  Marie
