SolidWorks Weldments are a great tool for creating frames for a buggy, fsae/formula student car frames, robot frames, and support frames. Begin with a sketch and then chose your cross section member or define your cross section member. Add gussets and weld beads to complete the assembly. A cut list is available from the drawing.
The movie shows the methods to create a buggy using weldments. The model file and drawing contains the frame. The steps to create the frame and cut list drawing are availalble from help, solidworks tutorials. Marie

Excellent video tutorial.
I'm having a proplem though when it come to my BOM for weight. (please mind my question, I'm new to SW) I created a template for a material (MDF) and the weight shows fine in that. Created a cutlist item in the solid bodies and set up the weight. I can draw an assembly with the parts, but when I do the BOM it just give me the weight of the single item and the quanity. I am wondering if there is a way to get a BOM with the total assembly weight without adding and multipling the BOM manually. Any idea?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Chris
