SWUGN Group Leader Spotlight: Chase Draper

Chase Draper is the leader of the Central Alabama SOLIDWORKS User Group. He is a project engineer where he designs process equipment for grinding and separating aggregate powders.  He’s been a CSWE since 2014.

Chase had been helping out with the group for several years, and when former leader Steve Uptain landed a new job that frequently took him out of town, Chase stepped up to take over. He’s been successfully running the group with an average attendance of 15 for more than 3 years now.

After developing a feel for what his members are interested in he tries to cater mostly to topics that interest them. So understandably, when asked what the best meeting the Birmingham has had to date, he responded: “it’s hard to pick one out”.

Chase is a keen mountain biker where he spends much of his free time when he isn’t working or running user group meetings.

So why should people attend a SOLIDWORKS User Group meeting?  Chase says: “I learned much of what I know and got my current job through the user group meetings.”

Author note: That may be the best brief testimonial for SOLIDWORKS User Groups I’ve heard.

Since 1996, SOLIDWORKS User Groups have been a valuable resource for SOLIDWORKS users all over the world.  The SWUGN Committee and DS SOLIDWORKS provide ample support, but the real stars are the SOLIDWORKS User Group Leaders. Every week or so, we’ll spotlight one of our group leaders and the local user group chapter that they are responsible for leading.

My official title is Senior User Advocacy & SolidWorks User Groups - but most people just call me "The User Group Guy". I've been a SolidWorks user since 1997, and was one of the founding members of the SWUGN Committee. Since starting the Central Texas SolidWorks User Group in 1999, my career path has led me to DS SolidWorks and a dream job supporting the SolidWorks User Group Network worldwide.
